We had trouble in city while we were still settling how to work things, but it's the smoothest and fastest group I've ever run through gloom and veil.

Ok you show use of Eles, monks, ritualists, rangers, necromancers and warriors. I've heard of an obsidian flesh tank dervish build that can work in DOA (though I don't know any of the details), and I've seen mesmers be useful in Urgoz.

That still leaves Paragons and Assassins as not being shown as useful in the current elite missions.

So whats the harm in ANET designing the GW:EN elite missions to favor the use of classes that don't get used as much (if at all) in the current elite missions ?

Clearly some classes will be easier to design the missions for than others. And it also looks likely that if ANET designs the mission to favor say an assassin, then the design of the mission is likely to force people to take one. But considering that Urgoz warren requires either Rebirth (wiki makes a note that this won't work any more), Consume Corpse or Necrotic Traversal (two prophesies only skills) to be completable, thats not without precedent.

If you just put extra AL vs fire, people just take winter and nuke anyway like the do in Hells Precipice. So you would probably have to add extra AL to cold to prevent that.

Lots of extra AL vs elemental would probably mean the cookie cutter builds favor rangers and paragons for killing things. Through in some anti-AOE (even if its just enemies that don't bunch up enough for AOE) and barrage is also discouraged so the cookie cutter build* would want high single target DPS.

*I don't see how to avoid cookie cutter builds forming. The focus here is to influence what they actually are.

Naturally none of these elite missions will require another elite mission as a prerequisite, nor will they be a prerequisite for any other mission. Though having them drop items that people would want to buy for use elsewhere is acceptable (like how ecto is farmed for people to use in FOW).

I can see it now... an environment effect that causes damage to the player each time they hit more than 1 foe with a spell/attack. Man that would be funny. And also very lame at the same time.

Bilateral rope- I've also run an eleball group that relied on a motivation/command paragon in DoA. Worked like a charm. As for assassins, shadow form is uber if they want to tank. Or, alternatively, you can just run a pile of shadow form sins and blow the crap out of everything without even bothering with monks and the like.
